18 | Presentation of the company: Alatnica T3M d.o.o., KarlovacA small but fast-growing tool shop T3M is located in Karlovac industrial zone Mala Švarča. To start a company that deals with toolmaking, employs highly educated engineering staff and must continually invest in new technology to keep up with the market in today's conditions is similar to Sisyphean work. "To produce at this time for me is a moral issue. All of us could go into some service jobs, financial sector, etc. Mechanical engineers are now employed in various sectors. But we decided to do what is the core, which is the production and creation of genuine added value. We believe this is the only way to have a bright future, and these are not just phrases, each day we are creating something new, and from that follows a pleasure" - says Dubravko Milković, director and co-owner of the tool shop T3M Ltd. |

11 | CCE provides support to innovatorsLocal knowledge and creativity create a prosperous society. The economic crisis is radicalized, and its prevalence can not be reduced solely to the financial aspect, but requires the establishment of a new economic model, said Nadan Vidošević, president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy meeting "At a breakfast with reporters and innovators" on 19 December in the CCE. The aim of the meeting was the presentation of innovators and their great success at national and international exhibitions of innovation this year. Vidošević pointed out that it is natural to strive toward business achievements and affirm in other areas of life but there is no universal recipe of success. There is a similar situation in highly developed countries and in the countries on the margins of the world economic system. |

Member of the committee of this event was the Michael Vesović, Vice President of SCA. Minister Jasmine Komić said that the Government of the Republika Srpska and Ministry of Science and Technology are committed to investing in knowledge and innovation, because it is the way in which knowledge is commercialized. He hopes that these activities will be continued and that by creating innovative systems the most important steps will be taken that mean connecting people with ideas and entrepreneurs who can realize them. |

36 | Green Automation with effective chain transfer Breakthrough in „green“ automation: Energy chain expert igus GmbH, Cologne, has developed a fast, quiet solution to supply power, data and media for energy-efficient handling and bearing processes. With travel distances from 40 to 50 meters, the costs for power and operation are significantly reduced when automated processes are interlinked. Processing lines, such as in the woodworking industry are a good example: if heavy manufacturing parts are loaded and unloaded over long distances, this must be done quickly, quietly and with minimal use of power. The same applies to bearing technology, for example with storage and retrieval systems, and for gantry robots. |

39 | Robotic serving of the surface welding lineCompany GP ŠPILJAK LLC is the manufacturer of tools for the container glass industry. They are specialized for the production of moulds for bottlenecks. Technological procedure requires surface welding of another metal to the semi-finished product. Everything is then finally processed using dedicated CNC machines. Technology line for surface welding is composed of two parts: a device for preheating of semi-finished product to the appropriate temperature, numerically controlled machine for deposition of metal in powder form to the main semi-finished product. It used Serving of both machines used to be performed manually, which required constant operator presence, so it was decided to acquire an industrial robot to perform serving. |

58 | Using thermoplastics with special properties for fog lights reflectors and LED lights Material selection in the lighting equipment industry is dependent on many factors, primarily on the temperature to which the product will be exposed. With a choice of materials, which are transparent to infrared light, or have a higher thermal conductivity, the temperature of the product is lowered, which allows the use of materials with lower temperature resistance. The article provides two examples of the application of material PES Ultrason E2010 in infrared transparent black finish on the fog lights reflector and use heat conductive thermoplastics for refrigerators LED lamps. In the industry of lighting equipment for motor vehicles, the choice of the material is determined by temperature to which the product is exposed during required testing, as well as during later use. This criterion is particularly important in the domain of the fog lights, where because of the small volumes during the application occur very high temperatures, and the LED lights, where the temperature of the source can not be too high. 74 | Cars on a dietPrompted by high oil prices and electromobility, a major change is taking place in automotive engineering: new cars must now be as lightweight as possible, but still safe. Using innovative plastics, experts at Bayer MaterialScience are helping to reduce vehicle weight significantly while at the same time giving designers new freedom. The new lightweight components are a hit among manufacturers, particularly in the luxury segment, and they guarantee total safety despite the rigorous weightloss program. Shedding those pounds: cars for mobility in the future have to go on an extreme material diet. In the past, power windows, air-conditioning systems, sophisticated sound systems and full power seats increased not only the comfort, but also the weight of many cars by up to several hundred kilograms. |

78 | Migration in the virtual worldVirtual reality is present in various forms - from applications for virtual education or visualization for medical diagnosis, through functional 3D views of buildings up to fully automated production lines. Virtual reality is now in widespread use. Siemens and other companies, for example, combine images from different sources - ultrasound, x-ray, CT, MRI, and others - and using the VR visualization significantly improve diagnosis and treatment. Based on VR simulation of microstructure and chemical constituents researchers develop materials with enhanced properties. Other researchers can predict dangerous crowds by crowd simulation and make for better overall security. More and more of our activities are being moved to virtual world - virtual meetings (which saves us time and money), education, repairs from the distance and more. Esad Jakupović |
82 | CeBIT 2013: Although reduced, still the largestThis year the world's largest ICT trade fair passed in the mark of Poland as Partner Country that presented itself in the best light in all areas of the fair, but it passed without the Croatian booth for the first time after many years. This was the first year that the organizers of CeBIT, the world's largest fair of information and communication technologies, didn't boast with figures because they could not hide that the Fair drastically reduced, even though it brought together more than 4000 exhibitors and 850 000 visitors to 450,000 square feet in five days, from 5 to 9 March. |

104 | The advantage for the user from the pragmatic packageWhen you examine the growth of toolbuilders Werkzeugbau Otto Huss GmbH, you will see Hermle machining centers tracing a thin red line throughout. Following the acquisition of the company's first machines and investment in additional equipment, the past 15 years and more have continued to see expansion in technology matched by growth in capacity.“Anyone who recognizes the opportunities and advantages of modern machining centers can do things with CNC systems that you cannot even begin to imagine", explains Thomas Birkelbach, Managing Director of Werkzeugbau Otto Huss GmbH, outlining his experience of decades in the manufacturing of parts and complex tools. Ant to a large extent, the compay's history reflects the development of technology in the fields of milling and complete 5-axis machining. It all started in 1987 with the switch towards contract manufacturing, production and special machining of tools and mould-making. |
106 | Everything stopped!Effective blocking system ensures maintenance of the windmills. Wind power plants must continuously produce electricity in order to operation economically. Works on regular maintenance is an important contribution to achieving maximum efficiency. Therefore locks that can be reliably stop rotors despite their enormous strength are necessary. Rotor lock "Rotorlock", according to statements by the supplier, is one of the few devices that reliably locks the rotor blade of wind power plants up to 6 MW. The larger dimensions of the device, permanent increasing of the distance of wind powers from the mainland and extreme weather conditions at sea, result in increasingly demanding requirements for components that are applied to plants at sea. |
