On November 9 on Zagreb Fair has opened 41st Croatian Salon of Innovations, INOVA 2016, the traditional largest domestic and the second largest European exhibition of innovation. This year, 450 innovations were exhibited with equal number of foreign and Croatian innovations - 120, 74 innovations of young people and 136 student business plans. The exhibition presented innovations from the whole of Croatia and foreign innovations were presented by projects from 22 countries, mostly Asia and Europe.

This article presents the development of a system for automated testing of brake pads. The market demands for bicycle disc brakes and the development of brake materials are detailed. The need to follow market trends is the main driver for the development of a specialised testbed. The system will enable the development of new friction materials and the optimisation of existing materials. Brake pads should provide the required brake force and life.
