FerroČrtalič, d.o.o. have organised the second free event at the company headquarters in Dolenjske Toplice on 9. November 2010, presenting the lectures about the advantages and benefits of different dry ice and soda cleaning processes. More than 70 participants from Europe and Balkans have also witnessed practical application of dry ice and soda cleaning. The lectures were diversified with the practical demonstration of dry-ice cleaning on objects brought by the participants. 

 You are presented with the second from the series of articles in which we discuss the state of Slovenian and European manufacturing industry, as analysed upon the largest European survey about manufacturing activity. The article covers the cooperation between Slovenian and European manufacturing companies in 2006, and especially the situation in Slovenia in 2009 and 2010. We are interested in how the manufacturing companies cooperate with other companies and R&D institutions in the fields such as R&D, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, distribution and training. We also look into their affection towards cooperation with clients, competition, suppliers, service organisations in the development of new products etc. 

 The Ljubljana fairgrounds hosted the 5. Slovenian innovation forum on 2. and 3. December 2010. 52 hand-picked innovations were presented in form of a fair event. The event is organised by the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) and is the main state-organised presentation of innovative business ideas, technical improvements and business models, also offering numerous accompanying activities, which were free of charge for all visitors. This year JAPTI has executed a state-wide invitation to tender for innovations to be presented at the 5. Slovenian innovation forum. The invitation to tender was open to companies, individuals, groups of innovators, r&d institutions, young people… 

 The IRT3000 Industrial Forum, which took place on June 6 and 7 in Portorož, was the ideal opportunity for the IRT3000 magazine publisher as the event organiser to present the first TARAS Award for the most successful cooperation between the scientific research sphere and the enterprise sector in the field of innovation, development and technologies. The TARAS Award executive committee has selected the best from the six applications based on the evaluation made by an expert committee. In a festive ceremony upon the end of the first day of the IRT 2010 Industrial Forum, the TARAS Award was presented to Domel, d.d. and the Systems and Control program group at Jožef Stefan Institute for successful cooperation in the development of a system for automated final inspection of electrical motors for vacuum cleaners. The award ceremony was followed by a talk with the awardees, which is published in the present article.
In the argumentation of the selection of first TARAS Award winners, the executive committee wrote this is a case of an exceptional achievement in the cooperation between the enterprise sector and the scientific research sphere, solving concrete industrial problems on the highest level and thereby ensuring the top competitiveness of the product on the extremely demanding global market. One must also mention that it takes two to cooperate, so the organiser has awarded two equivalent awards and two identical TARAS statues.

 From 18. to 20. October 2010, Austrian Linz hosted the PLM Europe user conference, i.e. the annual meeting of Siemens PLM Software solutions and technology users. The event has assembled more than 740 participants from 209 companies and 25 countries. The three-day conference program included 130 professional articles about industrial applications, as well as the novelties and characteristics of program solutions in extensive and integral offer of Siemens PLM Software. 130 lectures in three days dealt with industrial applications and the novelties in software solutions for the development, manufacturing process planning and support to product manufacturing in single-item production, as well as practical training and qualification. 

 Gorenje Orodjarna, d.o.o. have participated as exhibitors at the largest sheet-metal forming fair in Europe. The decision for active participation at the fair was not difficult. We were present at this fair for the first time in 2006 in scope of a joint exhibiting space organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia. The fair was a great success for us, considering we have found three new clients that bring us more than 500.000 Euros of annual turnover. The results of last fair have led to a decision for active participation at Euroblech 2010. 

 Digital Manufacturing Solutions and the software solutions known as the Tecnomatrix trademark are a part of the integral offer of Siemens PLM Software. The PLM Europe user conference which took place between 18. and 20. October 2010 in Austrian Linz was an opportunity for IRT3000 magazine to interview Ziyan Amram, vice president for digital manufacturing solutions. 

 The K 2010 took place between October 27 and November 3, as always in Düsseldorf. The fair attracted 3.201 exhibitors from all over the world and more than 220.000 visitors. There was no revolution, but there were quite a few interesting technological solutions. Two Slovenian companies were present at the fair: ISOKO from Slovenske Konjice and Javor from Pivka. 

 Malicious software code is spreading like an avalanche and enable criminals access to personal and business computers, data and money, web con artists cheat bank customers for large sums, counterfeits flood the markets. The security solution industry tries to limit such criminal activities with new digital wardens, including RFID and quantum computers. The internet is full of con artists, and there are countless providers of counterfeit products. Security departments persistently seek solutions to reduce the hazards and damages, including RFID labels and quantum cryptography chips.
