The Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana has presented their latest acquisition. The faculty was among the first in the country and region to install a new ABB YuMi collaboration robot. The plans are bold: YuMi will have to assume several pedagogical roles and prove itself in special projects.

Flexibility is key to success in company Zimmermann GmbH, both the flexibility of staff and the flexibility of manufacturing. Agile manufacturing demands resources that are able to keep up with this flexibility. This is why Zimmermann have decided to use the Swiss system REGO-FIX powRgrip, which fits all the demands.

The article presents the process of developing the casing for Scoutee radar. Scoutee is the first product on the market to measure ball speed in games like baseball. It consists of a smartphone app and a hardware accessory. We present the development of a casing for the hardware part, demanding a high level of visual and technical sophistication while ensuring the product's functionalities. In addition, the product had to be optimised for simplicity and low costs in low-series manufacturing.

Start of December, a new ProJet 3510 SD 3D-printer was commissioned at the Laboratory of Machining (LABOD) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. The printer was acquired with support from the University of Ljubljana Student Organisation and company ib-CADdy. This opportunity was also seized to present the newly founded Laboratory for Quality Assurance (LAZAK) under the Department of Machining Technology Management.

Up to the beginning of the 20th century, animal or plant oils and greases were used exclusively as lubricants. With the dawn of a new era of internal combustion engines, fossil-based lubricants have taken over the market, ensuring good lubrication properties at an affordable price. However, increased care for the environment has revealed the greatest deficiency of mineral oils, i. e. poor degradability in the natural environment. If mineral oil is spilled over a grass surface, the green parts of plants and roots get burned.
