From 21–23 March 2016, Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana is to host the European Robotics Forum under the aegis of euRobotics (international association for robotics). This event is the most important gathering of experts, researchers, engineers, managers and representatives from robotic companies in Europe.

As a result of increasing expectations due to global competition, the manufacturing companies are faced with constant technical challenges of using modern sensor technology. By combining several measurement technologies and lighting methods, modern control solutions are able to simultaneously fulfil several different demands. With a unique combination of triangulation, stereometry and phase shift, the 3D-sensor is a flexible and universal system for measuring 3D-shapes and 3D-robot control.

Japanese metrology equipment manufacturer Mitutoyo is the leading provider of surface roughness testing solutions. Recently they announced a new model called Surftest SV-3200, which boasts with extreme precision. Combined with versatile extras, such as holders for various sensor, this semi-automatic model provides extreme flexibility in surface roughness measurements.

Industrial packaging is often produced on huge blowing machines that use a lot of energy and are equipped with hydraulic accumulators and large pumps. Electric technology has reduced the energy consumption in this field significantly.

The production of welding materials in Jesenice has a long tradition, ever since 1939. The customers can choose among a wide palette of coated electrodes, several types of welding wires and rods, welding powders and laser-welded flux cored wire. The company manufactures and sells almost 10,000 tonnes of various welding materials annually. Most of them is exported to Europe, the Americas and North Africa. The most important export partner for Elektrode Jesenice is still Germany. In 2015, they have managed to boost sales on demanding Western-European markets of Norway and France through additional marketing and sales activities, as well as by visiting fairs and accompanying the Slovenian Steel Group at several international fairs all over Europe.

In the early eighties, Japan began to adamantly introduce robots in its manufacturing sector. This resulted in a sharp rise in productivity, mainly in the automotive, electric and electronics industry. Their robotic excellence is the most evident in industrial robots, a branch that holds firmly the number one slot among the suppliers globally.

Up to the beginning of the 20th century, animal or plant oils and greases were used exclusively as lubricants. With the dawn of new era of internal combustion engines, fossil-based lubricants have taken over the market, ensuring good lubrication properties at an affordable price. However, increased care for the environment has revealed the greatest deficiency of mineral oils, i. e. poor degradability in the natural environment. If mineral oil is spilled over a grass surface, the green parts of plants and roots get burned.
