18 | Laboratory for Machining receives a new machining centerRecently, a celebration took place at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, when a new Doosan machining center was commissioned in the Laboratory for Machining. |
64 | Clinch joints and electric currentAutomation, different material combinations, and energy and cost savings: challenges in automotive manufacturing are multilayered. Clinch joining techniques is an efficient solution of creating shape and partially material joint of sheet metal in one forming operation, as well it allows creation of more points in one step. |
70 | Cooling tower cleaning with the combined systemThe cleaning system from mycon GmbH successfully cleans even soiling on trickling filters in cooling towers. The task of cooling towers is, regardless of the type, the release of waste heat to the ambient air. Wet cooling towers have the greatest effectiveness. The heated by industrial processes water is usually performed within a cooling tower via trickling filter. This is where it runs over the surfaces in drop form. In addition, a fan sucks or blows a cooling air stream over the surfaces of the trickling filter. |
96 | Cobots – Successful collaboration between man and robotRobotics and automation are among the key technologies for ensuring lasting international success. Cobots interact directly with humans and give manufacturing companies a competitive edge in the market. At EMO Hannover 2019, trade visitors will find countless automation solutions and collaborative robots aimed at enhancing productivity. |
192 | Improved production capacity with automated tool machiningWith its standardisation strategy and the C 22 UP machining centre from Hermle, the tool and mould making division of the WMF Group has managed to streamline die and tool production processes, thereby creating the scope for services for external customers. Today, the WMF Group, which was founded in 1853 as Metallwarenfabrik Straub & Schweizer and has been part of the French SEB Group since 2016, represents the best in cooking, drinking and dining. More than 2,200 employees at the Geislingen headquarters and the nearby Hayingen plant alone are engaged in the development and production of high-quality cookware and cooking knives. 226 | FARO metrology instrumentsFARO Technologies Inc. is one of the leading company in the field of object acquisition in the real world and transfer into the digital world for measurements, visualization, analysis, reporting, as well as representation in physical shape through 3D-printing. FARO instruments and software can be used on different fields from 3D-scanning of large objects and plants, documentation of current state, including in forensics and culture heritage, reverse engineering, as well in production control, setup or as a support in assembly of large products. |
261 | Smarter injectors with mould filling simulationWith the integration of mould filling simulation into the Gestica control system, Arburg sets new standards in the field of assistance functions. Simulation experts from Simcon were involved in this complex project. The challenge was mostly the material, which characteristics are changing during the injection process. Therefore, optimal filling of the mould has long been the topic of discussion for the experts. |
