Laboratory of Machining (LABOD) and Quality Assurance Lab (LAZAK) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana organized a workshop on current trends in the field of machining technologies. A two days workshop took place from 22nd to 23rd September 2020 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana in collaboration with the community of knowledge and innovations in manufacturing at the European institute for innovations and technologies.

Once again one of the leading developers of X-ray systems, VisiConsult Xray Systems & Solutions GmbH, was able to present further new developments this summer. After the in-house development was completed, a standardized high-precision CT system was quickly completed and delivered in two different configurations in August. A customer in Israel received one variant with a granite manipulator, the other with a high-precision steel manipulator went to France.

In the first two parts we show the basic principles of injection the moulding machine, design and calculation of the screw geometry. Calculations regarding the melt flow, pressure increase capacity and melting process were demonstrated on suitable screw geometry. The last part of this article deals with optimisation possibilities of screw geometry.

The main solutions for short range measurement are coordinate measurement arms FAROArm and FARO ScanArm with 3D laser probe. For long range measurement the solution is FARO Laser Tracker, a system dedicated to measure parts up to 80 meters. FARO Focus 3D laser scanner can be used as a measurement device with long range radius up to 350 meters. FARO Laser Projector and the system FARO Visual Inspect are ideally suited for control of manufacturing and assembly processes.
