20.07.2018

Machining solutions supplier in the UK for the manufacturing sector, Geo Kingsbury, provides manufacturers with innovative machining solutions, including grinding machines and comprehensive support. It has now increased its equipment offering with metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines.

180715-P4France-based manufacturer of metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines and production lines Add Up has announced that it has acquired Beam, a French AM machine producer. Strasbourg-headquartered Beam is said to be a leading company in directed energy deposition technology, which produces large and highly complex parts, feature additions and component refurbishments including the repair of aero engine parts.

Geo Kingsbury, based in the UK, says with this acquisition, it will increase its AM equipment portfolio as Geo Kingsbury represents Add Up in the UK, Ireland and the Middle East.

Based in Clermont-Ferrand, Add Up was formed as a joint-venture company by Fives Group and Michelin in 2016. Together with its U.S. subsidiary, it has a workforce of over 180 people globally, including 100 engineers working on the development of new AM solutions.

Beam, on the other hand, was formed in 2012 and has subsidiaries in Cincinnati as well as Singapore and has customers in France and abroad in the aerospace, defence and energy sectors.

Vincent Ferreiro, Add Up’s CEO said, "Together, Beam and Add Up will be uniquely positioned in the 3D printing market by offering customers a comprehensive range of metal additive manufacturing solutions, with a particular focus on training and consulting.”

“The arrival of Add Up and its shareholders, Fives and Michelin, enables us to secure Beam's future development and benefit from their industrial expertise and the pooling of our respective resources." CEO at Beam Vincent Gillet added.
